Large and important ring made in America in the 1940s in platinum with a dense pavé of natural “old mine” or “vecchia miniera ” diamonds and others in old cut as follows:
36 small diamonds weighing 1.20 carats
22 medium sized diamonds weighing 2.60 carats
6 medium-large sized diamonds weighing 1.50 carats
2 large diamonds for 1 carat
1 central diamond of 0.80 carats
total diamonds approximately 7.0 carats
All 67 diamonds have an excellent clarity grade (VVS-VS) and color between the GHI grades.

The ring comes with a certificate issued by a specialized laboratory, attesting to its value between €11,500 and €12,500.
Why is this cut calledold mine cut or old mine ?
The number of facets (58) is the same as the brilliant cut but the era, provenance and proportions are different.
This very ancient cut has identified diamonds from Indian and Brazilian deposits since the second half of the 19th century before the African mines were discovered.
Theold mine cut therefore generally dates back to the period before 1866-67.
The cut's proportions are characterized by the slightly square and beveled diamond. The crown is high, and with a good magnifying glass, the larger culet can be seen when looking at the diamond from above.
