Gilded silver coffee pot with pear-shaped body and swan-neck spout with acanthus leaf throat.
Sculpted curl handle and hinged lid with wraparound flame grip.
Made by William Grundy in London in 1764.

This coffee pot, like many others from the 17th to the late 18th century, was masterfully embellished with embossing and chasing, featuring decorations that became fashionable in the early 19th century. The embossing was done from the inside out, with counter-embossing and chasing from the outside. The complexity of these works was therefore more demanding than creating the same model from scratch.
