The brass harnesses or vestments fixed in ancient times on leather and then on other supports, are castings that were used to decorate work or draft horses in the United Kingdom, particularly in England in parades of events and holidays. Having become popular since the mid-19th century, their use for harness enrichment declined with the mechanization of agriculture in the first half of the 20th century, however they have remained popular as souvenirs and home and door decorations. Folk tradition and myths suggest that brasses were used as good luck amulets.
