A delightful and ethereal lavalier necklace crafted in 18-karat white gold in the early 1900s. The sinuous movement that characterizes this refined jewelry period lends a surprising lightness to the piece, which in reality has a solid and robust structure. Every ribbon, every little flower, and every intersection is covered in crystal-clear diamonds. The stones are all original and natural. The small rose-crown cut stones, the medium-sized ones, and the large central one are antiqueold mine-cut diamonds. A swinging pearl completes the composition.
Why is it calledold mine cut or old mine ? The number of facets (58) is the same as the brilliant cut but the era, provenance and proportions are different. This very ancient cut has identified diamonds from Indian and Brazilian deposits since the second half of the 19th century before the African mines were discovered. The old mine cut therefore generally dates back to the period before 1866-67. The cut's proportions are characterized by the slightly square and beveled diamond. The crown is high, and with a good magnifying glass, the larger culet can be seen when looking at the diamond from above.
