Large vintage hand-engraved silver locket

Important silver locket with rare dimensions and hand engraved on the front. The closure is pressure-fit and works perfectly.

The history of lockets dates back to antiquity due to the need to preserve a small memory of the most cherished affections. During the Victorian period starting from 1840 it was also possible to introduce small photographs as Queen Victoria did in memory of King Albert. They were increasingly widespread during the war period to be able to keep loved ones close every day in the most difficult moments of distance.
